Anyone know how much oil to put in a rear shock after a rebuild? Also, what weight oil would be recommended? Lastly, would there be any difference in series 1 and 2 shocker oil capacities, or is it just the physical length of the shocks that are different, rather than the stroke. I've stripped a couple of original ones down and they look like they should go again.
Thanks.
Rear shock oil.

Silkolene etc do small bottles of fork oil in various weights ie 5 wt, 10 wt. For a Lamby rear shock I would try 5 wt and vary how much you fill the shock as the more added reduces the air gap and results in firmer damping and vise versa. Ideally you need to strip a good shock that hasn't lost any fluid to measure how much it holds and work from there. For the same amount of fluid 10 wt,15wt etc would make it firmer still.

Thanks Wack, I've got some 7.5 weight silkoline oil I am going to try from my mtb forks (may be a bit optimistic
). I just wondered if anyone had a starting point regarding amount. Haven't got a decent original to strip.
Thanks again.

Thanks again.
