Just fitting a new small end bearing and new circlips on my Muggello and the wire clips have a bent over end. Do these fit with the bent end sitting in the recess on the piston or should the main curve of the clip bridge the gap?

I fit circlips with the gap at the bottom, the theory is that the piston walloping up and down doesn't compress them and they don't fall out. I give a tiny drop of locktite on them as well.

I always fit so the circlip bridges the gap.
