Hello , my mate has a af cassette 6 plate clutch (road version ) and we are having trouble fitting it . The problem is it seems to be fouling on the top of the Xmas tree as this sticks out above the supplied washer and nut so it cannot engage properly so it can't move back into neutral . ;) . My question is has anyone come across this problem before and is there a solution ie trim the excess thread to suit . Any help or advice most welcome :D
Thanks James

Forgotten the shim behind the clutch between clutch and bearing?

Hello , shim installed and we still have about 4 mm of thread showing . Could a larger shim be used do you think although I have only seen up to 1.6 mm and wouldn't this put the crown wheel and front sprocket out of line :(
Thanks James

Mine has quite a bit of thread showing but it still operates fine with the compressor cap in place.

I would think chain alignment is more important as long as the clutch works.

Hello Fux, all sorted now , problem was shim was too small and alignment was out , also cable travel was less than af advised . Frustrated but relieved to get it working , lad was thinking he had wasted his money. Cheers for contributing

Well, I read what you wrote and what I wrote, checked the instructions again and got a panic attack!

I didn`t put locktite on the main nut.

Obviously like you say the splines shouldn`t be showing. I think it went a bit quick when I whipped in mine because the clutch was sitting a little loose.

Luckely, no harm done and I also had to shim out slightly more than with the one that was in there before.

I`m sorted too now. Glad you posted because that could have been a very silly mistake on my behalf
