Just changed the cylinder head as my old one`s spark plug thread had stripped (cheap alloy 185cc). Put it all back together, new spark plug B7ES, same as the old one. Took it for a spin, all seemed ok, pressed the kill button, engine kept running. Let it cool down, started it and it switched off ok, so kill button seems to work. All manifolds are on tight, head`s tight. Any thoughts on why it`s developed this fault, what else should i check, it`s only done 500 miles so carbon build up is eliminated ??

Was it the Same Cylinder head Size ? did you re check the Squish ?

and unless youre running in and know what your doing a B7 is too hot a plug especially in this hot weather

Toddy, same cylinder head bought from the same place I got the kit from. Also used the head gasket they supplied. In short. .no I haven't checked the squish but was assuming it should be ok.

Donnie, scoots done 500 miles since total rebuild so just about run in, you suggesting I should try a B8 ?

Most would normally run a B8 and put a B9 in for longer runs at higher speeds eg rally runs etc. B7 is usually just for short round town only runs or running in some cast cylinders for part of the running in cycle.

As for the squish, definitly check that as I never trust 2 parts to be the same no matter what.

tbh i would rather suspect your kill switch first ..as they are known to be dodgy sometimes and play up often,next time pull off your plug cap to see if it keeps running on

while pressing the kill switch to be safe

^ Or use insulated pliers - see Sean's post above. Or man up and risk the jolt.

Going to give scoot a blast tonight with a B8 plug, see what happens....will definitely be taking insulated pliers as well...as an electrician i`ve had more than my fair share of `jolts`..

or pull the low-tension wire at the CDI ?

(or put a big rubber glove on, sit on a wooden stool, count to 3 an shut yer eyes.........like Sean lol).

you could connect a wire to the CDI where the green go's, engine running and earth it, it if kills the engine then it's a problem with yer kill button/wiring.
