GP200 Stage4 very thirsty

The fuel consumption on my GP200 engined API is ridiculous, 25MPG on a long fairly steady run.

Setup is :-

30mm PHBH - no filer
Pilot 55
main 120
Atomiser 266
needle X7
Slide 30
NK Road Exhaust
Standard GP gearing

It runs quite well pulling well from low down although could be a bit crisper and the plug is not black and fouling, a recent GPS run saw a genuine 70 and that was in the heat. It starts first or second kick and idles reasonably smoothly.

Having read a large number of other setups I've noticed my main jet is relatively small but I'm running a rich slide, it does spit a fair bit of fuel.

I've got it on a solid manifold and I assume as a consequence they are light shiny patches on the slide and the inside of the carb body although I don't think is significant wear.

The engine is in good order, the SIL crank failed recently so I treated it to a new MEC one and bearings, the bore and piston are fine and it has loads of compression.

The local gurus seem to think the issue is solely down to thrashing everywhere but I think there must be room for improvement without investing in pipe and slippers :D

25mpg! jesus! mine was pretty similar , solid mount carb etc, but a big bore pipe (42mm clubman style) 50 pilot, av264 x7 2nd notch, 45 slide, 125 main open mouth. did 80 to the the standard tank, so ..40mpg? ran a 350 float /needle jet to get round fuel starvation. swapped to a Koso 30mm for a change, but the solid mount is still going strong on a mates Rapido 200.

25 mpg!!!! I get more out of a 4WD supercharged Rallye Golf.

That's 44 miles per 8 litre tank :?
