Protech Rear Shock

looking for a new rear shock for my full frame GP, frequently two up usage, had a R1 with 220 lb spring but the wife says its too hard (oo er ), bought a Escorts but bottoms out on every bump, mates have recommended the BGM, but that's out of my price range, anybody using the Protech two`s up ?
i could go on a diet but whats the fun in that.

Not using it two up, but I like it. If I wanted the BGM without the price tag then Protech would be my choice. Buy from Rich Presley, I think it's lightly cheaper IIRC,

I have Protechs on my series 1 and series 2 dont ride two up but do a lot of miles with gear strapped on and both have been good so far , althoug one of the Darlo boys snapped a rod on one on the way back from Shipston the other weekend dont know any details or history of the shocker though .

Why not fit a softer spring on the R1 shock then play around with the compression settings?

One of my mates from Selby has just had the rod on a BGM snap.It's out of warranty,but being sent back to Germany for them to examine,as none have broken allegedly. I have blown seals and snapped Bitubo's,so wouldn't have one of those again.How about a Hagon if on a budget.They have a really quality after service and are upto the job.AF have a lovely made[British] top spec shock out,but I feel it's about £220 which is top bucks in my mind.Think allstyles have got a Jap made adjustable shock on their site for about £80,not sure on it's quality though.There are so many out there nowadays,we're spoilt for choice.

I certainly did mi duck.Several failures to be truthful.But as I also mentioned the 'service' they offered.I thought that they did a blinding service by telling anyone who had concerns regards their shock to return them,for a full inspection,repair and replace of any parts 'free of charge' along with free postage for the item.Yer canna fault em for service.There is deffo better out there ,I wouldn't argue in the least.But at £100,they are half or a third of the price of some shocks,which are obscenely priced...Cheers,Speedy.

It was only a small batch of Hagon shocks that snapped and fair play to them they were quick to replace/repair them. I've not heard of any problems for a couple of years and still use them on my two scoots.

Yes agreed, they did handle the problem well, but the fault and the fact that they shafted the Scooterist that originally commissioned Hagon to make them wouldn't inspire me to buy another.

Protech is far superior at around £150 and well worth the extra IMO.

I can't comment on the 'shafting' incident but I've had one on for 6mths now without any issues, ride 2 up as well.
