My LIS engine runs sweet as a nut, but I have a noisy chain, which I don't notice on other Lammies, I rebuilt the engine a year ago and am using a standard tensioner, anyone know how to resolve this?

Did you check the sprocket height / alignment tolerances when you rebuilt it?
If they're out this could cause it.

Now, not only do I have a noisy chain, but I noticed another strange noise, when sitting at the lights the other day! It didn't dissapear, when I pulled the clutch or put in gear, so I decided to open it up and have a look
My chain, may have been a bit too tight, I was using standard tensioners, I have just ordered some race tensioners from Beedspeed, hoping this will help mute the chain noise, when adjusted correctly.
As for the other noise.......... I 've looked at the clutch - all ok. gearbox endplate - ok, gears - ok, a bit stumped where to look now????

turn the rear sprocket to take up any slack in lower chain , then adjust top guide so there is around 6 - 10mm up/down play in the chain "between the guide and front cog". front cog should be tightened to 24 ft lbs .

OK, examined the chain, all ok, examined the clutch, seemed ok, checked gear box endplate all seemed in order. Rebuilt it using Teflon type chain guides and adjusted to about 6 - 10mm play, started her up and still have a whirring noise, however I does disappear when I put it in gear, so what have I missed
