BGM / MB Clubman for smaller kits

Anything related to Lambrettas... ask tech questions, post helpful info, or just read and learn.

Hello all ,


I've been following a post on here ref the new BGM / MB Clubman and it sounds very positive . I was wondering if anybody is using one with one of the smaller kits so to speak ie Mugello/ Cast/ alloy 185 / GT 186 etc with possibly a smaller carb set up maybe 25mm . I currently have just run in my GT 186 kit and i am using an AF clubman and not had the bike dynoed yet so any thoughts would be appreciated.

I have a slightly tuned iron barrel, 26 delly, 5 speed box and a big bore clubman and it definitely added to the package. I'm not an exhaust expert but found it a little revvy but that could be down to the carb and not properly set up. I'm riding to France next Wednesday for a week and have taken it off for a number of reasons. When I get back it will go back on and I will get everything set up properly. It's very well made.

I posted this on another post after only about 100 miles. It's a GT186 on a 30mm PHBH and now done 1800 miles:

"First thing I noticed what that you do lose a bit of low end torque [compared to an Indian Clubman], but not much it has to be said. But, stick it on a by-pass and whack the throttle open, then it comes into it's own. Definitely so much more power on tap than a standard clubman. So, if you're buying one to get expansion like performance from a box pipe then my initial impression is that it does that. It likes to rev.

On the dyno, at PSL, Kirkby, it produced maximum power of 15.77 at around 7000 revs whilst torque was 12.69 which it broadly held from 5000 to 7000 revs".


I've now sold the scoot that the engine was attached to but there was no way I would sell this engine unless I was facing destitution. I love it :D

I got 13 miles to a litre on the LCGB Coast to Coast. IMO that's OK in "tuned Lambretta" terms, so I won't be bothering to downsize the carb any time soon.

I've put one on a AF 200cc smallblock with 22mm jetex, compared to the 42mm clubman it revs on more and feels better midrange too.

Hi storkfoot,
I have GT186 kit, 25mm del, and an Ancillotti clubman.
Ive been looking at the MB clubman.
since these are finally on peoples scoots after such a long wait, there has been alot of comments on how noisy they are, whats your experience please?

The Ancillotti performs and revs much better than most clubmans available until the MB arrived, do you know of any performance comparison of both?

The tickover is quite quiet but out on the road they are quite noisy. But, nothing too bad. I wouldn't let that put you off. I've never run one of the ancillotti copies so can't comment.
