Vibration!!!

My Super Monza is going well, however, I have a real problem with vibration, which I can feel through my feet and seat when riding (especially at high speeds)!

I've recently changed the seat for something that sits further forward and is thicker and sturdier, which has improved my riding position (don't feel like I'm gonna fall off the back now :) ), but has only enhanced the vibration I feel at thigh speeds!

I recently dropped the engine (at the recommendation of Charlie Edmonds after he road tested my scoot) to see if any part of the (Indian) casing was rubbing on the frame; unfortunately, this didn't reveal anything obvious.

I'm not quite sure what else to try/do now - as nothing else (ie. manifold, exhaust etc. is rubbing) other than maybe fitting some different engine mounts (currently have large Casa ones, with 3 small holes, which Mr Edmonds recommended and fitted when he did my engine)?!

My understanding is that so long as the nuts/bar/cones are all tight, then the rubber in the mount should soak up any vibration? I'm using offset cones (must admit I'm not sure how well they fit in the frame (ie. do they perfectly match the shape that they sit in, difficult to tell, but they do sit flush when tightened), so I assume as long as these are level on each side, I don't see why they should cause any problem?

So guys (I've emailed Charlie the same), but any ideas on what else I should be looking at/changing as never experienced anything like this before with a scoot, and annoyingly it makes it generally uncomfortable to ride, and very difficult to ride at sustained high speed (70+) on motorway/dual carriageway, because of the vibration??

Any help is most appreciated!

Cheers :D

Ps. it's not the motor/crank etc., as this has been fully built, dynoed and road tested by Charlie.

try backing off your engine mount nuts- many people overtighten these so that the inner steel bush touches the cones/ frame area= transmitted vibration.

I tend to just nip mine up then back off- often cures any vibe problem

the only seat id put on my lammy is a org or a casa remade, my scoot is very smooth ride with one of these seats put any other on and the scoot completly changes and feels like box nuts awfull ride and feel every vib not nice, also check every nut and bolt every were is tight the diff one loose nut can make is amazing , exhaust check its on right and not moved this can also make big diff to the ride if u slap the end can with u hand it should feel solid, rear shock if to hard can change the ride of a scoot, riding without panels also gives a poor ride

Thanks guys for your replies!

On recommendation of Mr Edmonds, I'm gonna fit some different (softer) engine mounts (SIL), which will apparently dramatically reduce the vibration on my particular setup.

Fingers crossed :-)
