Am I right in thinking, that the carb and manifold can be mounted on either side of the Lammy with a GT 186 kit?

Yes and no

Two different manifolds, a TS1 side for the bigger carbs such as the 30mm PHBH I have on mine, and a normal sided one for smaller carbs.

So, I have a PHBH 30 on the right currently, I won't be able to turn the manifold round and have it on the left?

No, frame will be in the way.

Richard has recently made a 30mm manifold with a flywheel side entry for the new big-block GT kits. I don't know if it is adaptable to the older GT186 kits but I suspect that it is. Your best bet is to contact him via PM and ask.

There are now 4 variants of manifold and all are interchangable with each other details are:
1. L/H side 25mm for use with PHBL25 and air box.
2. L/H side 30mm for use with PHBH30 or VHSH30 either open or with remote filters, too big for air box
3. R/H side 30mm short manifold for use with PHBH30 or VHSH30 either open or with remote filters
4. R/H side 34mm short manifold for use with RGV VJ22 Mikuni carbs (TM type flat slide) or any carb with a bore of 34mm either open or with remote filters. Important note VHSB carbs are not suitable for this manifold as the bore and elastic mounting are bigger than 34mm ID so check first.
