Whats the long brown with a grey sleeve over it for. Seems as if its for the horn but i have a brown/purple from the loom in one side and the white from light switch on other. Is this wire surplus to requirements

Yes, some ignition switches doubled up on the brown to feed the horn, if your loom feeds this then you don't need it.
