Where to find an internal 6V lighting coil?

Update:

Problem likely due to damaged lighting coil. Anyone knows where to get hold of a SS180 6V blue-yellow lighting coil? Even a working used one...

Cheers V

------- OLD POST --------

Hi all,

Light and horn on my SS180 failed a couple of weeks ago and living in London it's imperative
having a horn, or else you're in real danger. Light's good for visibility too :)

Basically there's no power out on the green cable from the stator and having had the plate
off on Sunday the issue is NOT a broken soldering, so suspecting the coil has
given up... There's no visual clue to what could be broken.

Is there any way to measure the coil, and if so how?

Or have I overlooked something else of the black magic called electricity that could be screwed up?

Cheers V

Why are you after a blue/yellow coil? As you mentioned earlier, it's the green supplies horn and headlight.
If continuity is good on green coil, try detaching loom green and connecting a headlight lamp directly between stator green and earth and run engine. If it lights your problem is elsewhere.

The blue-yellow coil is mechanically damaged, albeit only slightly. Going to re-solder all connections too but as it was I had no output at all on blue/yellow and green loom out of engine...

Did you measure power with the stator disconnected from the loom?

And the loom is new... I'll resolder it as is as I think the mechanical damage probably isn't causing the issue but if that doesn't solve it I'll have to look into changing it.

Thanks for the input though :)
