Short on time to figure it out, so; so that I can just get stuck in and do it, does anyone have a wiring diagram or instructions for how to achieve Varitronic DC Tail Light, Brake Light, Horn & Gauges?
Thanks

On a stock dc loom it would be a little weird but basically you just need to send the regulated AC feed to your headlight (through the key and or high/low switch). The rest of the lights tie in to the dc trickle out of the regulator which ties to the battery and is controlled by a switch.

What kind of loom, guages and switches are on your bike.

The short easy way would be to wire it just like a factory dc bike. This way the battery runs the brake light and horn and the AC runs the head, tail and speedo in the 3rd position.

I should've been a little clearer; it's on an SX with ignition switch and I was gonna use a battery. It has an AC loom.

Mike, there may well be another way to do it but I would probably disconnect the horn, brake and rear light and run new feeds from a DC supply from the battery fed via a relay powered off the AC lighting feed from the ignition switch. To operate the relay, you would need the use a half wave rectifier connected to lighting feed from the ignition switch and connect the DC output from this to the coil of a low voltage relay (Maplin do one that has a suitable voltage range). The DC supply from the battery would then be routed via the contact of the relay to operate the required circuits. With the engine running and the lighting turned on, the relay would energise via the rectified feed thus providing power to the horn (DC item required), brake and rear lights and instruments but this would only be whilst the lights were turned on. If you want it all working without the headlight then just tap into the AC feed TO the light rather than from it. The only problem doing it that way would be that the rear light would always be on when the engine was running.

I used the rectifier and relay method to allow me to operate a DC horn before we all went the full DC route so I know it works.
