indian gp frame numbers.

I bought a late indian frame with matching logbook , the book states scooters india grand prix 200 its stamped * 22/4/36 * i know the 36 denotes where it was shipped but the british lambretta archive numbers only go to 33 , can anybody shed any light on this thanks. im In Ireland so maybe the 36 is for here.Ive seen this configuration before .

ps when i say gp its a vijay super mk 2 , late forks and turning mudguard etc ,

That's exactly like mine in the US, but these were grey market bikes here.

S*22/4 * 36*00####*

Turning fender, fiberglass rear fender, no rear frame SIL badge, late forks, turn signals.

Good to see SIL kept the tradition alive of vague numbering schemes and changes with out documentation.

yes same spec as that. what do you mean by grey market bikes?

Grey market usually refers to unofficial imports i.e. not imported by the appointed concession or importer.

These are often bought in one country at a lower price / favourable exchange rate and legally shipped to a second country then sold on at a profit outside the dealer network, often with no warranty or even the knowledge of the manufacturer.

Modern examples include Japanese market cars being shipped here.

I recently bought another indian gp frame and its also stamped 22/4 / 36 and its registered as 150 , maybe these frames were used with different engine sizes?
