I'm pretty sure that's not correct, I think the Augusto retards 6 degrees. Setting the static timing to 22 will mean that it will retard to 16 degrees and being a '6000' it will be fully retarded by 6k RPM. I think you'd be safer with 19 degrees as your starting point, but that will depend on he state of tune and pipe as well.
The 6k / 7k thing is more to match where your engine makes peek power.
Interesting but I'm sure there is more to it than stated in any of the replies on that thread. I would be interested in seeing what the retard curve is like between the different Augustos. My guess is that they are set to give the majority of the retard 6 or 7 degrees by the stated revs, I doubt it is 'linear'. Any continued advance after the initial 6 or 7 degrees is just a bonus safety margin. It might also explain why my EGT continues to rise as I head towards and beyond 7k rpm.I'm a grown up and I've got one fitted to my GP at the time i had it on the dyno but feck knows what it does.....dave wheeler wrote:thanks guys, any grown ups out there?
