Have you checked your cable adjustment? I had similar issues and it was an over tight cable at fault. Since I sorted that my AF clutch has been faultless. I hope this helps Pete.

Which version of the clutch is it road or race and what set up (engine) are you running ?

slacken the cable off a little and try again, but once youve 'buzzed' the plates they dont last long!
how much hp do you have?

mr innocenti put a larger front sprocket and a lower ratio gearbox for a reason!,the std lambretta clutch is very dated so this is how they overcome the problem, you've got twice as much hp with a higher ratio box and little front sprocket aggrivating the clutch, the af either one should stand this!
all my scooters run gp boxes with big and bigger sprockets to aid the clutch, the rb likes to rev the overall ratio might be about right for your rb but its how you get to it that helps or hinders the clutch

I fitted one in a lads engine similar set up to yours but with An NK touring pipe not JL been fine apart from when I first fitted it I found a worn Cush drive which gives a similar symptom to clutch slip changed that and all was good
