Can anyone recommend ceramic plating a TS1 cylinder, are there any benefits over nicasil and who can carry this work out?
Cheers

If you Google 'Apticote 2000' you can see the coating that is generally used. I have had a 200 TS1 and mugello and a 230 TS1 ceramic coated and never had a problem that could be put down to the cylinder coating.
It is supposed to be harder wearing and cooler so in theory it shoul be an improvement on Nicasil.
Hope this helps.

Aptec do the ceramic coating. They don't like doing TS1 cylinders, especially with bigger than 70mm bore, they have problems with the spigots flaring.

Poeton did the 200 & Muggy, a mate had an account there as he was in the oil drilling business. The 230 was done through MB when the engine was built.

Someone mentioned to me that a few UK dealers stopped using Aptec a while back, as there were some ongoing problems honing TS1 cylinders, they apparently tried many times to get it right using various methods. I heard that in the end they gave up with the job and a few other dealers started to pull their work out of Aptec as piston to bore clearance were problematic.
These issues maybe cured now, who knows.

They still mention issues regarding spigots flaring. It would appear that ceramic coating a TS1 cylinder is best avoided
