my series 2 has a replacement/home made panel holding mechanism, it doesnt work too good, the side panel handle slips about half inch down, im scared it comes past the bend, and the panel comes off!
Can you buy a replacement, or could i cut into the stainless bit, so the locking piece falls into place, stopping it sliding down and past the corner?
Hope this makes sense

what i mean is should i cut/grind a few mm off the bottom of the straight edge, so the panel bit secures in the "step"

You can buy a replacement part, but it is a weld-in piece that is welded to the rear of the frame. I have one in the garage, if you're interested pm me

Some people do that modification to make it easier to change the rear tire

Wonder if a split pin through a drilled hole would be a better option to stop movement of panel handle?

I have the welded one held with screws. Works fine.
