hi i noticed while out on my scooter that when i come to a stop the revs drop off ok but it runs a slight bit fast on tick over for about 20 secs then goes to the right speed is this the carb or a sticking choke problem thanks

if its been running ok then just started this problem check the thottle cable is routed ok first.

then check the carb rubber for splits and poss a blocked pilot jet
also check if the carb overflow casting/floatbowl is touching the engine mount

thanks for the replies the petrol pipe does touch the engine mount will move it on a slight angle and then check.

moved the carb on a slight angle seems to have solved the problem thanks, i have a mb manifold on my ts1 carb is there a solution to move the carb well off the engine mount and not hit the toolbox thanks

does this cause frothing of the petrol?

yes sure does and engine failure soon after
theres an overflow pipe guide on the floatbowl that is best cut/filed off
the petrol pipe is regularly held with a jubilee or clip and if it touches the mount will also froth the fuel ,a big tie wrap will give better clearance and do same job
the carb top or cable adjuster when carb is angled may touch the toolbox ,again will vibrate and froth fuel
a rigid mounted fuel tank will do the same
as well as a fuel tap on engine mount
etc etc loads more probs ive found that are really common



lth type inlets give good clearance and pull carb away from panel that on your current set up the overflow pipe will be nearly on or touching the panel too ,have an inlet if you need 1

thanks for the replies Darrell i have already sawn off and filed smooth the old overflow guide at the moment everything is just clear. my panel has been cut out at the bottom so the carb is well clear of the panel how much do you want for your inlet manifold thanks again

This could also be indicative of a slightly too small pilot jet.
