Femsa to Ducati conversion help

Has any one done the conversion from Femsa flywheel to ducati flywheel and electrics?
Looking at one for a mate that's had the conversion done but the timing looks to be about 29/30 degrees, is it normal on these conversions to elongate the slots in the stator as that's the only way I can see to get it the required degrees
