Just bought a new pair of Escort front dampers for my series 2 and while playing around with them noticed they only damp on the rebound, is this correct. I expected them to damp in both directions, hoping they would remove some of the front end dive when braking.

I think they all damp on the rebound. With the possible exception of the ScootRS ones which work both ways, and some people say they are too stiff.

Keith, I'm afraid there isn't a lot you can do to stop dive without going the anti-dive route, but yes, damping on the rebound is correct, the springs handle the compressionnewmanlammy wrote:Just bought a new pair of Escort front dampers for my series 2 and while playing around with them noticed they only damp on the rebound, is this correct. Okeydoky looks like ive waisted my money then, only got a drum brake on but its so good youve only to touch it and the bike dives and stands on its nose better than my PM disk on the gp.
Looks like its time for some stiffer springs and the fork rebuild I was trying to avoid.
