ok so got my hands on a dellorto 30phbh-bs, have transferred all the contents from my old solid maount 30phbh-as. only the atomiser housing that i screw the atomizer into is different on the new bs and, looks like i need to move the one from the old carb as it has a slotted tube which protrudes slightly into the venturi and readily accepts the AV266 atomiser. so how do i swap these components over ? they look like they should come out as they are brass in comparison to the alloy carb body.

if four stroke body, can it be changed to two stoke ?

its possible i,m sure................but then why bother.........?
just get another one thats correct to start with.............. :D

If you have a reed valve, try the carb as it is. Many reed valve engines (Honda NSR 125 and Aprilia and Cagive 125's) use four-stroke style carbs.

You can swap out the four-stroke component, indeed it is recommended if you have a piston ported engine. The brass bit with the collar is known by several names, but I call it a primary choke. You can buy this from Eurocarb or VE Spares for about £9.
(Part No - 9565 £8.95, I think).

You need a soft drift (ali or brass). Remove the bowl, floats, atomiser and slide/spring/needle. Open-up your vice nice and wide, and with some soft jaws, place the open end of the slide-hole against one side of the jaws. Place the drift up the atomiser hole against the underside of the threaded mount for the old atomiser, and place the other end of the drift against other jaw of the vice. Now slowly tighten the vice. As you close the jaws, the drift will gently push the old brass mount out of the body of the carb.

With care, the re-fitting process is the reverse, again using the jaws of the vice to ease the new primary choke back into the carb.

A couple of photos would help no end, but I haven't time now. Good luck.

i really didnt mean to sound un helpfull............
but was only thinking of the cheapest/quickest/most cost effective way to answer this prob...........

ok, wonderful thing internet, so after reading a few threads.
filed head of atomiser from '4 stroke' carb, just enough so that it would pass the part of the carb casing it normally rests against. screwed it in and tapped/knocked out the '4 stroke' spray tube with a couple of knocks with the mallet and a long thin bolt.
used my modified atomiser again on the old '2 stroke' solid mount carb to extract the good/desired spray tube.
with a socket over the spray tube and extension bar placed in a vice, slowly pressed the desired spray tube into the '4 stroke' carb (2nd try as it turned slightly on 1st attempt). - sorted, job done in 30 mins.
carb on bike this afternoon and she runs sweet as, although still running in.
