t5 problems

hi i've noticed 2 problems with my t5 first the clutch slips when you do over 7500 revs, 2nd when you go up through the gears hitting 7000 each gear change you get to 4th and there is a fuel starvation problem. the clutch is standard and so is the carb. thanks

Needs clutch plates,and new springs probably, and try upjetting to 112 if it's on 110. Assuming the exhaust is standard.

thanks for the quick reply the scooter has a jl rh pipe with a suzuki 171 conversion.

Oh be a much bigger jet than that then, find out the size and try the next one up. Also could be that you need a beefier clutch with that extra power. Something like one of those reinforced cosa style clutches from sip.

new clutch plates, have you got a sip fast flow tap, did martin drill your carb,and did he fit the cosa carb part, he did all this on my suzuki t5 conversion, i think its the flow not the jet size

thanks for the quick replies lads might try new plates and some up rated springs.i think i'll send a 26/26 carb for martin to drill out and fitting a spacer plate and cosa top from sip is required fast flow tap is already fitted.

24/24 carb fine just needs martins touch, tell him your probs, 26mm not required or up rated springs we not generating enough power YET :anbrgin;

Good point, forgot about that flow issue. Have got a cosa carb top set up waiting to go on something at the moment, although I do have a 172 T5 that's never needed one.

Maybe the 3 plate clutch is a bit stressed with the increased power of your engine?
As the genuine Piaggio 4 plate clutches seem to have their issues too maybe you want to think about a BGM one? I fitted one to my (standard) P2 engine and although I didn't do a lot miles so far the feel (and ease of operation) is quite impressive.

dont even bother with a 26mm carb how long is the petrol tube many folks make this simple mistake?
