Given the number of CDIs that seem to fook up on lambrettas and how rarely you hear of that on vethpas I was mulling this over as I'm filling out the shopping list for the dog box PX my brother just landed me with...

On the vespa the CDI is rubber mounted and generally they do not vibrate like a rampant rabbit on speed.

How many of us ever bother to do that with he ones we bolt on our Lambrettas?

good move , standard practice on race bikes and karts to rubber mount ur cdi/coil along with dedicated earth direct to the stator

I had the same thought a few years ago and have mine on a plate attachet to an exhaust bobin. I can't say I have been completely trouble free with CDI's but all my failures have been down to an electrical fault that took out 2 ducatti and 2 indian CDI's before I found it.

I didnt bolt mine on because of this so used thick zip ties as they're nylon based and will absorb the vibration

makes sense, mines zip tied in place to the frame, wiring pointing downwards, and in a ballon, so water wont affect it.

moving all my electrics soon anyway, putting them much further forward, shorten the wiring and HT lead, tidy things up, will remount it just the same, didnt realise how much lambrettas vibrated LOL
