ive got an af 175 kit on my series 2 which has done thousands of miles trouble free over the years, its getting a bit slow and worn out now and i was told i could bore it to a 186 and put a mugello piston in. does anyone know if this will work ?

I've bored those sleeved alloy kits from 62mm to 66mm with no ill effects. Works very well with no nip ups and no rattles (3 thou clearance). A bore from 62mm to 64 mm with a "186" piston and suitable head should therefore work fine.

I've done the cast iron barrels out from 62 to 66 as well- no problems as long as a decent piston is used and you take care with clearances (3 thou works for me as long as you pay attention to running in). I tend to run in "little and often" (short fast runs; cool down then out again)

Good Luck
