I have seen this done somewhere. This is where the control rods have the middle section turned down on a lathe or simailar so that part of the rod where the switch wires, clutch and front brake cables touch are thinner then thicken out to normal diameter before they go through the half moon locators.

Anyone know where i could get this done or better still a way of doing it without a lathe?

Hi Syd haven`t seen the control rod turned down (wouldn`t that weaken them quite a bit ) but theres a bit in Sticky`s book that shows the headset is ground away with a dremmel at the point you mentioned to give a bit more clearance ....if that helps

Anyone that has a lathe can do this, Jason Frost did my last ones, but I'm sure MB and the like could oblige also, it's not a difficult job.

The thinner diamiter in the middle will be fine as the rod isnt stressed at that point. Its also located at the end and by the half moons so as long as you dont take it down to a matchstick it wont effect it.

It does make cable routing so easy though with no issues with the wire sleeving which always seems to be my achillies...

Before I had a lathe I used to thin them on a bench or angle grinder and smooth with a file .
