Seize and keys ...

How do,
As much as love my Lammy, blimey they're a ball ache. At least I have the PX to keep me on the road, though the headlamp did fall out on that the other day haha.
I've a SII LI150 that was kitted with a Mugello a good few months ago. Was well run-in I think but I have had a couple of nips when in 3rd where I was letting it get to what feels like very close to the top of it's range before changing to 4th. Not like I was thrashing it like that for ages, only for a couple of seconds. When easing off the throttle it was okay. Happened maybe twice previously so I have been more cautious on the whole but done the same again the other day in the same circumstances except this time it didn't kick back in after easing off. Would start again but after riding it for a few seconds it would cut out. Now it won't start at all. Is the piston likely knackered now and what were the possible causes in the first place?
The other thing is the keyring with my Lammy steering-lock key and tool-box key has come off somewhere a few weeks ago and I've checked everywhere so am going to have to write it off as gone. Luckily the steering-lock wasn't on at the time so I didn't have to force it. What is annoying is that I have tried umpteen locksmiths trying to fine someone to sort me a spare as I was worried about not having one. Anyway, so I guess I just need one of these

if you've got the key numbers (normally on the locks), then Jem Booth on here will sort you out with replacements.- an ordinary locksmith won't be able to help I'm afraid

If the locks are original and have numbers on Jem Booth is your man he can cut/match the original keys i dont know if he comes on here but he goes on the LCGB forums someone may have a contact number for him on here i do at home but at work at the moment, the locks should be ok to get out unless they are painted or seized in the tool box is just a case of drilling out the two rivets, the steering lock will have a locking screw in if you remove that take of the aluminium cover (sits near the screw) you should be able to push it out from the back with a screwdriver .

Are you sure it actually nipped up? the reason I ask is that nicasil lined cylinders like the Mugello don't tend to 'nip up', the first warning is a full lock up caused by the debris from a bloody big hole in the piston

Is it possible that it's just misfiring at high revs? Perhaps you could describe what happens in greater detail?

Jem Booth is your man for keys just had two delivered, great fast service. If you need his contact number let me know. As for the steering lock there is a small grub screw holding the lock in place, you access it by removing the headset and a small disc which you can prize out with a stanley blade. I have a couple of pictures if you need them

I think so. The first couple of times it happened it lost all power (kind of like it would be 30 seconds after fuel tap is turned off) and I left it a few seconds and let the speed drop and could then carry on as normal. Definitely would only do it at the limit of 3rd as had weeks betten the nips where I was more cautious and it was fine then. Also, they were only short runs I was on and early in them so engine wasn't very warm. The most recent time the same happened except when it cut out it was completely so when I tried the throttle again there was no response. Sorry, probably not the most helpful of descriptions I'm not sure what else to add though.

thats not nipping up, as coaster said nicasil cylinders dont normaly nip up and you keep going, sounds like either a fuel problem or maybe a broken ring, what carb are you running and are you running it through the airbox ???
