Hi all, what's the best way to degrease freshly shot blasted panel work before any primer is applied? Thanks in advance Pete.

Not sure. I suspect something like acetone or a similar alcohol based product would do the trick and evaporate away.

panel wipe, celly thinners, and i like tack cloths just at the end if its bit dusty where your working
heavy is good, heavy is reliable, and if it does fail, hit them with it!!!

If it's freshly sandblasted then it shouldn't have any grease on it.
I would just blow it off and then go straight on top with an etch primer .

That's what I was thinking. I think I'll just give it a once over with some panel wipes and on with the primer. Cheers for your time fellas.WINTERMODEL150 wrote:If it's freshly sandblasted then it shouldn't have any grease on it.

Personally I think that using etch primer on blasted panels is overkill, I'd just use panel wipes or thinners prior to 2k primer after first going over with a coarse (240 ish) production paper to get rid of any blast media trapped in the surface.GBCS wrote:+1 on going straight over it with etch primer !

I know, I'm saying that I don't personally think its necessary on a blasted surface, the purpose of etch primer is to 'key' the surface so that the paint can stick, why would you want to etch a surface that's already been etched by sand? It won't do any harm but it's just extra bother and costWINTERMODEL150 wrote:2 k primer is not an etch
