ive been told that i AVTO adjust the timing when i put the kit on now i dont have a strobe or anything like that so could someone please show me a pic/diagram as how much i need to move it and weather clockwise or anticlockwise would 2 base gaskits be a benifit ..cheers in advance
You don't have to adjust the timing on the T5 malossi kit. I ran one for 15 years with no problems, the only thing i made sure i did is change the rings every 3000 or so. Just make sure it's upjetted right.
If you think you need to retard the timing a degree or two you can just turn the stator clockwise a mm or two.
You do need retard the timing a lot on PX200 malossi 210 kits and so on, maybe whoever told you was thinking of those.
I have still got some T5 172 kit instructions at home, and i'm pretty sure it tells you to leave the timing at 16 in them.

never known any not to rattle just rev it harder m8
There's a certain amount of piston slap on tickover with the 172, although you can't see it by eye the piston tapers down more than a lot of others , also the cosa clutches chatter like f*ck especially if using 1 or 2 tooth different from standard, it's just the gear meshing a bit sloppy. As above, it goes away when revved and everything runs fine
