cosa clutch steels

Hi, my mate is having problems with his clutch (cosa), ive taking the clutch apart to have a check at things and there appears to be 4 thin steel plates ! should there not be 1 thick plate and 3 thin ones ? :? :?

Yes, there should be one thick clutch steel plate. This plate goes in first. Three thinner plates. Before installing them place them on a mirror or glass surface to check for warped plates. Buy the best you can afford, its always good to have a spare set of corks, sitting in oil. CD boxes are excellent for this, the ones that come in the plastic cylinder, if you know what i mean.

one of the 3 thin steels also has a notch cut out of the internal teeth, this is the second one in........... don't know why but if it doesn't go in second it can cause drag.

Only found this out meself last year after drag problems, switched it round and drag gone!

Thanks for that !! one of the problems he had was clutch drag !!
