Noticed that AF Rayspeed are now selling Avanti heads and for some of their kits, I have been running a Rapido 250 for a quite a few years now and know she gets hot if opened up for too long, is the Avanti head the answer ??? anyone have any experience of the Avanti head fitted to a Rapido 250 or 225??

I do know AF have been tinkering for a good while with this and it would seem the results have now warranted this move.

I use them on RB250s....they help, and are one part of the equation. Monitor jetting, comp ratio, ign timing, squish, and distance of fin fans to cowl.

Didn't know AF were selling them ?

I thought about this myself but my concerns were:

A standard cowling wont fit and an Avanti cowling will leave a large gap between the cowling and cylider....not very efficient cooling !!

The Avanti cylinder head does not use a gasket, there is a lip which fits into the matched cylinder....this would have to be removed and the head profiled to suit the cylinder/piston (is this what AF are doing ??)

I'ld also be interested to hear if anyone has bought one....or knows more about them...

The heads AF sell are pre-machined by Ron.

Was just wondering about the cowl and what occurs there?

before ron released the avanti cyl and head kit he sent one up to me to tune and i instantly was drawn to the head/cowling and its potential for use on standard cylinders,im interested in cooling the head and the cylinders upper fins as the transfer ducts and case get a better deal due to quenching with fresh charge but still benefit from as much cooling as possible
ive ran the avanti first on an rb230 nearly 2 years ago and worked really well ,it had 36bhp and was ridden 2 up flat out at nearly 90mph for 4 miles thats way longer than any straight on a race track and with heavy full steel bodywork and 25 stone on board id say it proved itself,i then did one on the rb 250 that won the scooter shootout 41+bhp and ran perfectly all weekend with around 55 runs up the 1/8 ,1/4 and half mile winning top speed and best times in each distance
stickys coast to coast winning rapido 225 i tuned was also treated to the avanti head and has shown on his gauges to run much cooler than the std head
i then spoke to ben at rayspeed who told me there race bike was suffering overheating problems so i told him about my experiences with the avanti head and suggested he tried it and has since added it to there product range
it has to be machined to suit each job but the effort is worth it and a few extra tricks can be applied ,
i think af will end up having some plug n play versions ready to fit now or very soon

^ Nice one Ron... thinking outside the box :)

Also, well done to those that are prepared to try these new products and to prove their worth on and off the track.
