Yes you can. Malossi supply a head gasket with the kit to space the standard head and avoid piston contact. It is part of the Malossi T5 gasket set.
Not optimal but functional.

I've only ever used a standard head on mine but I took off the combustion edge with a dremmel . Its mentioned in the booklet that came with the kit . I used the head gasket supplied too . Never had a problem but the compression is high . I can't pedal the kickstart like when its standard .

save your pennies, get the head you have altered to suit (chiselspeed, readspead etc.) and save yourself the hassle of a very expensive malossi 172 kit going BANG! because of 30 quid or so. how many people would run a Mugello 186 kit on a GP125 standard cylinder head? i recommend the SIP 172 head, but they are expensive, if on a budget get yours altered.

Erhum, yes it is: it's here in English if u want to (can) read-up
http://www.scooterhelp.com/tuning/malos ... nstall.pdf. Not the bestest inlish (maybe that is not your problem?), but it will get the lad through: was under the impression he wanted to ride ASAP what with the question "can a stock head be temporeraly used on a malossi t5 kit".
The correct answer is 'yes it safely can' ...it will not be optimal!
The MMW head is best (but dear as stated). My best results were with the PM Tuning profile *still needed extra skimming to get right squish even though engraved 'no gasket required'. T'woz better than the SCK/Taffspeed copy profile....other shops eg Readspeed, Beedspeed will profile the head for you...usually on a rapid 'exchange' basis as original T5 heads are rarer than inobtanium

I'm guessing it's not optimal using a standard head . It'll work , it's worked for me and I've driven flat out over long distances (until my shoulders hurt) without drama but I've never ran with another T5 with a properly machined head so I don't know how fast or slow mine is . It pulls a 21tooth clutch no problem . One thing for certain , I've changed the rings every 2500-3000 miles odd because the compression falls from then on and it makes the scooter hard to start . I'm guessing with a properly machined head the wear rate wouldn't be as quick . I don't live near a scooter shop so getting a head machined would involve hassle but I think I'll get it machined somewhere this year . 3% synthetic oil , supplied main jet with standard pipe works fine , 125 minimum with expansion exhaust , great kit but noisy !
