I'm rebuilding the forks on my GP150...new forks & springs/parts, question is the top hat, the spring seems to sit on the outer lip, it seems logical to me that the spring 'should' sit inside the recess, with the rod locating in the hole in the top???...& doesn't easily appear to push fit, so advice please as the only way I can see this happening is to grind a little off of the spring outer circumference.

The original GP fitment wash the 'fat washer' type spring stops. Which would not have left you sctratching your head.

Sounds like you have Li/SX type stops. Not a problem as they can be interchanged.

You will notice that the LI stops taper inwards in the internal 'cup' . Do not grind the springs to make them fit in there: this is crucial to getting the springs and therefore links to 'stop' at the same distance in each for leg. Sitting on the outer lip thet will be at the same height in the legs.

Hi thanks for the speedy answer, so in essence I can use the top hats with the spring resting on the outer lip, therefore would the rod locate in the guide shaft of the top hat under assembled compression resulting in a stiffer front suspension?

The guide rod "fork spring rod", should be free to slide through the spring stop allowing suspension travel. The springs will be set at the same height with either stop and pre-compression when loaded should be the same.

More importantly, do you have the correct 'loose ball' rods for the 'shallow cup' GP fork links?

Yes...have the correct rods, balls & links, just this washer/tophat threw me....once again thanks
