Issue with stainless tank ?

im looking to purchase a long range stainless tank now ive heard they have problems that can cause engine seize etc regards stuff inside new tanks ?

Don't go for a stainless one but get a Diablo long range tank.
They are the best on the market.

If you must have a stainless tank clean it out and then seal it using Petseal or a similar product

thanks deff after stainless :anbrgin; wot should they be cleaned out with ? also petseal is this some sort of stuff u wash around in the tank ?
also wot about adding a inline fuel filter ???

in-line filter not good .........can cause fuel starvation = hole in piston = seize ...........same as the s**t in stainless tank does

You should only need to flush them out thoroughly with a cleaner. You shouldn't need petseal or another sealer in my opinion. If after you clean it out and you find it leaks send it back!
I use a cleaner for my tanks called marine clean from frost auto restorations (do a search on the web) which will get rid of any polish residue/welding dbris etc.
Once you have cleaned out with marine clean rinse the tank through thoroughly several times with water through a hose pipe. Obviously leave to dry for considerable time before fitting.
Sealing the tank will not get rid of the small debris left by welding or machine polishing. You just need to thoroughly clean them before fitting which you shouldn't have to do really but hey ho, its a lambretta after market part

stainless tanks,no probs at all,
you can cut and weld them for any lammy thing you want,i dont use anything but stainless,

In defence of the in-line filter i,ve had one(MB Supplied Annodised with windows) on for 5 years and had no issues & its been well thrashed to Kelso and back and more than a few middle distance rallies and when you clean the filter out and see what these things strain out

you would,nt be without one again!!! i,m sure there are other types that are no good but as long as you check fuel flow rate with it fitted in my experience these are very worthwhile...

I bought a stainless long range tank (the type that means you can still use your toolbox) a few years ago from Beedy. After fitting it I managed one trip from Brum to Tenby and back (only just!) to find the piston and bore totally mullered.
After sorting the top end I cleaned the tank out by swishing petrol round it a few times and blasting it out with water from a hose. No problems since, and no cracking or leaking anywhere. I would buy the same again but you defo need to give em a reet good clean before using. Was a bast to fit first time but once I sussed fitting some of the tank rubbers upside down it was easy enough to remove and re-fit.
I wouldn't chance not cleaning it even if you were to use an in-line filter. It might work....but if it doesn't.....

yep, I use that. Definitely need to flush out any new tank, and when you've finished, do it all over again.... might take some time, but will save grief later on...
