I'm struggeling to loosen the (old style castlenut-type) clutch, although I use the proper castlenut-type socket.

My stupid question: The clutchnut is undone anti-clockwise, isn't it?

Cheers, Chris

They can be a pain alright sometimes. I use an air ratchet gun with a long extension bar through the spare wheel bracket. Failing that lie the scooter on its side so you can keep the pressure on it. And yep it is anticlockwise to loosen.

It does undo anticlockwise but there's a wee washer with a lock tab that folds down into one of the castellated bits of the nut to lock it in place.

You have bent that wee tab up out of the recess in the castleatted nut before trying to undo it haven't you?? (I've done it myself, that's why I ask :freak: )

Thanks guys.

Yes, the washer is there, although the tabs are NOT folded over. Looks like an "expert" fitted the clutch...

The engine is out to take it to some engineering place (as I don't have an air rachtet, unfortunately).

Cheers, Chris

lock the clutch in place, using a holding tool, a strap wrench or strip the top end and use a con rod holding tool, get someone to keep it steady on the bench, and give the castle nut a few sharp taps anti clockwise with a long pin punch to get it going. it"ll go eventually.then use a NEW castle nut tool to undo it , old worn tools are what f@@k castle nuts up.

Stupid me! One of the washertabs WAS folded over correctly! No wonder, the nut resisted to get untightened...

Looks like I need new glasses!

;) Like I said earlier, I've done it myself with mine, sometimes quite hard to see.

At least it's a quick, easy, cheap fix...............this time :D
