tried drop bars on my lince today....but they are not going to work....to close to legshields and will hit the clutch lever housing in 4th when turning left ..... the bars are the chrome ring type as its that type thats on the lince
am i right in thinking that to fit drops to the lince i will have to change forks and fit none chrome ring drops to get enough clearance..? :(

Can't imagine you would be in 4th and still put that much lock on the bars. You could also maybe adjust your cables so that 4th isn't as far down, but of course 1st would be "higher".

Normally the spaniards did fit 460 long forks from bearing shoulder to top of the stem. Take em out and measure.... If you fit some normal series 3 forks these are 7mm longer 467 to 470 long measure them as well. The chrome ring headset that you have will have an extra 7 mm clearance - you could fit a chrome ring to tidy it up as you will have a gap at centre of leggies.

thanks for the help guys... i thought of trying a different clutch lever housing as on the lynx 1st is quite high and 4th is quite far round....but the brake cylinder housing hits the other side and this is without the legshield beading on.... (my gp with drops has loads of clearance all round),..it seems it would be cheaper and easier with straight bars...
appreciate your help thanks

im a little confused .. are you saying lince had chrome ring depth headset bottom but diddnt fit a chrome ring ?? as that would surly mean the leggies are higher than say jet or li type ... that aside many seem to trim li type leggies into a gp type profile on the top because of the clearance issue you mention
