depends how orriginal you want it ,many might say keep it as it is just repair ,if you want 12v i would say go for gp crank and electronic kit but they are available for sx /li taper if you didn't want to split the motor

Couple of options that give you 12v + electronic ignition while keeping your SX crankshaft:

The kits with lightened flywheels will be kinder to your SX crankshaft, or, as suggested, upgrade your crank to GP at the same time.

These are just two dealers from many that offer similar sorts of kits

Ok. So what this means is if I want to go for trouble free 12v, I have to opt for a gp crank.

Iv`e been away from lammies for a while and it looks like there are some better options on the market now.

I had a varitronic on my ts1 which was realy reliable. How are the "new" kids on the block fairing up? Casa, bmg etc?

obtain a good 6v points system and fit it. There must be 1000's of them floating around in garages after people have converted to 12v Electronic..........Presently running original points systems on a TV175S3 with a Muggy kit and an original LI150S. Absolutely no problems on either.

the "beauty" of an original 6v points system is that if it starts acting up when you're out and about, a bit of adjustment/ cleaning will probably get you home.

If an electronic system fails, it fails............

And a properly maintained points system probably won't act up in the first place. The only thing that an electronic kit has for it is that there is no maintenance, it should be fit and forget, however this isn't the case with a lot.
I'd keep the points stator but 12V DC it.

You can always return it to standard if you keep all the parts. You won't keep it standard for long Rob. :bigsm:

Or stick it on the ferry to me. I still have some funny money left from my last trip. 8-)

Thanx Martin.

Iv`e had my eye on it for a while. Its all original, apart from the new front shocks and the spark plug.

I have a plan to put my gsmk.1 back together, sell it and buy back my TV. The tv has been stood in a garage localy because the owner doesn`t dare use it.

This way I wont kit the sx, which is realy reliable, and I can carry on messing about with the tv. :)
