A Friend has a taffspeed ts1 engine. It runs a 30 mm vhsa carb and original Taffspeed exhaust.
He has a couple of things he wants to change and I need a bit if advice on that
There Is a lot of spit back from the carb and he wants some sort of filter fitting. It is an SX 200 , and at the moment there is no clearance between the carb and the side panel , it's almost touching. Would a shorter manifold ( Jimmers etc) give sufficient clearance to fit a filter, or does all the carb need changing to a thinner one to to fit a filter, also which filter would you suggest.
The second thing is that he wants a standard looking exhaust fitting, any ideas in that also.
Thanks
A couple of Ts1 questions

1st thing i would do is ring ian at taffspeed, or get rid of the TS1 set up if he wants a clubman, bit pointless running that kit with a standard exhaust.
Or buy a JL curly pipe which gives you standardish looks with expansion performance.

Aren't the new MB clubman exhausts compatible with TS1 set ups?
He could always cut a hole in the panel,I had to on mine before I cut the panels down as the carb touched the panel, but then again I've always run mine without a filter and put up with the petrol/oil mixture all over my right boot

I do not try to explain why I ride Lambrettas,
For those who understand, no explanation is necessary,
For those who don't, no explantion is possible.

My TS1 runs mint with an Ancillotti exhaust - Its a great touring set up and is quiet!
Re the filter - There could be room if he uses a jimmers or LTH manifold, but it depends on what tank he has
I have an extended standard tank so there isnt the room for the filter up high.
My solution was to get an extended hose and put the filter above the gear swivel - Thats on a series 1 though - not sure if it would work with a series 3

I tried one of the Jimmers?LTH manifolds for the same reason with a vhsa carb. It didnt make any difference. I bought a Mikuni carb which are more narrow and it doesnt touch the panel now.AndyS wrote:A Friend has a taffspeed ts1 engine. It runs a 30 mm vhsa carb and original Taffspeed exhaust.

Did the mikuni fit with a filter, if not what carb would work with a filter on an sx, if any
Re the exhaust , thanks for the Anciloti recommendation, is the performance ok
What about the Avanti exhaust , would that suit
