£2800 does sound a bit iffy but as long as you don't part with any cash before checking it out then what harm is there in having a look.
Meus Lambretta est non infractus. Is est quietus.

if it seems too good to be true..............................
Phone the guy first then go round and check it out with a fine tooth comb. Don't send a deposit. Deal in cash- or better still a credit card if at all possible.(unlikely)
Go round with a big mate and don't take much cash initially!
Let us know what you find

seems alot of the scammers are using landline numbers now,
im not saying your one is a scam but take a look at this one.....http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j& ... 5w&cad=rja
im sure this is the same person who was selling a p2 engine the other week,i read the sellers name on another forum.after lots of emails to get your confidence you get an email saying due to work they have to go away but you can have the 'item' cash on delivery.they will then ask you to go to a paypoint machine to pay but when its delivered you can still reject the item and get your money back............pmsl.needless to say,as soon as you have paid you have lost your money.

As Bristol Mod says go round and have a look with a few friends shall we say . However i got ripped off / scammed recently when i spoke to the fraud squad the told me Gumtree is a nightmare for them at the moment ,Scammers are copying old images of sold items off of Ebay and presenting them very well.

There is a hint of asia about it but for the right price you'd have money left in the kitty to fix it up properly. I'd check and recheck the frame numbers though.
