Has anyone used a Gunsons Tachostrobe dc model on their lammy with success?
If yes what did you set the RPM slide at?
Will dc work on a lammy li150 with 12volt battery fitted.
Rick.

The gunsons strobe I have, has a dial at the back which is for checking degrees of Ignition advance...Mine dosnt have an RPM slide....?? :?.... But it works off a battery and gives a very bright light ....I set the dial to zero in degrees, which then if my timing is right, the marks line up, (Flywheel to mag housing) thats the point of ignition before top dead centre....But Gunsons are quite good.....and fairly long lived, if you dont over rev the scooter... 8-)

I use one and have never had a problem with it. The RPM function is a bit gimmicky so I wouldn't bother using that. I use a multimeter for RPM.

Could you elaborate on how to use a meter to check the rpm, it

It's a Sykes Pickavant "hand held engine analyser", fancy name for a multimeter that measures tacho and dwell as well as the normal stuff.

Whats the working limit for the strobe and Tacho RPM....is it a 1-1 tacho or 2-1...??

Some Strobe lights have a low limit of how many illuminations per minute, My Gunsons is 8,000 Illuminations per minute The Clarks Strobe (from Machine Mart) is 10,000 per minute....on mine the light can fail above these limits...
The Tacho... some are calibrated to one spark = 360 degrees (1-1)... some are calibrated one spark = 720 degrees (2-1)... two stroke use and four stroke...but some are switchable....I was wandering what exactly the Sykes was, with a view to buying one...Thanx...

Ah, I don't know what the limit is on the strobe (obviously never reached it). The tacho is made for cars so it's scaled for 4,5,6 and 8 cylinder 4 strokes. I use it on the 4cyl setting and just double the reading. Haven't used it on electronic CDI as I don't know whether it will take the higher volts.
