Hi all, I've a had a quick search but can not find what Im looking for.

I am just about to pick up a GP150 with an Indian engine in it. What kit do you recommend to increase the power. Many many years ago I had a 240 kit on a GP200 which was fast enough but prone to heat seizures (about 20 years ago). Ideally I'd like something that has a bit more power BUT is reliable and cruises nicely 2 up. I live in Thailand now so the temperatures here are a lot better than back home in the UK. The Saigon scooter centre are selling cylinder / piston kits and exhausts, which is probably where I'll end up buying from for ease of posting.

Cheers in advance.

I just looked on the Saigon scooter centre site but the only kits mentioned are the RB 20, 22 and 25. The RB20 would fit your casing but it is a bit extreme power wise. Also, Saigon say they are primarioy trade only :?

To be honest, for reliability and enough power to pull 2 people I'd probably favour one of the GT 186 kits, iron barrel with a read valve and a unique radial finned cylinderhead, I have NEVER heard a bad word said about them. There are also Mugello and Casa ally barelled kits and the new MB Developments RT 190. You would be well advised to oerhaull the rest of the engine while you are at it using top quality bearings
unless you are confident as to the build spec?

Cheers, I think I'll need to speak with GT. Getting parts into Thailand isn't that straightforward with taxes etc etc.

personally id forget the engine for now if its reliable and concentrate on tyres, rims, brakes, lights, shockers then look into reliability parts such as decent cdi/regulator, ign switch ,loom, cables, headlight /tail light all are things that i have changed on mine or others scooters from what are often described as "quality" restorations imported from india i wont even go into the engines ............might be worth checking the fuel tank for debris and replacing the pertol pipe and spark plug cap again these are generally products from the lowest bidder ........
