My new engine is being assembled this winter with a Rapido Classic 225 kit. I have yet to purchase an exhaust or a carb for it (So I am open to suggestions on either). My plan was to get one of the new MB bigbox clubmans (Will they ever arrive?) or the Rayspeed 48mm clubman matched with a 25/28mm Dellorto and a remote filter.
The shipping cost for either/any exhaust here to Canada is real high. (Like the price of a new carb.)
The mechanic assembling the engine for me has a Sito Ancilloti he is willing to sell at a fair price.
Have found mention on the forum here of individuals matching this kit and exhaust.
My question is does it work in the long run? Rayspeed said to use it only for breakin peoriod, but if I can save a few bucks...
Looin for some opinions from those with experience.

Got told the same by AF and Ron Moss,Ok for running in because you're not going to be (or shouldn't be) giving it much abuse.But once run in the smaller exhaust will restrict the heat escaping.Running a 225 Rapido fettled by Ron Moss,my set up at present is a 48mm clubman and a dellorto 30,but am looking to change to one of the "super clubmans" when they come out -either MB or Supertune.The 48mm clubman is a good solid exhaust but does kill the top end,from my own point of view if you've spent a lot of money on having the engine built,it would be a bit remiss to skimp on the exhaust which can make a lot off difference to performance and your enjoyment of the scooter.My advice would be to either get an expansion,48 mm clubman or hang on a while for one of the new clubmans,both dealers have a page where you can sign up for an email when the exhausts will be for sale,got my name down on both so whoever is first off the blocks ,I'm going for it.Prices are I think around the £190-£225 mark for the new type,48mm clubman about £90.

That was my spec when I had a rapido but I used a 24mm mikuni it produced enough power and torque to easily pull my italian Li150 box and 16/46
So yes go with the ancilotti.

The last thing I got from Mb was the exhausts were now in the hands of the Germans

Hi, are you having the barrel modified in any way?

And, considering the cost of postage, is there a reason that you're not looking at an expansion pipe?

Only thing done to the Rapido cylinder is I polished the ports. I just finished the case transfers today.
I am not opposed to a expansion chamber but for the money the new super clubman's seem to be more of what I am after, a touring setup.
But an expansion chamber does look oh-so-much-better....and the sound. Mama mia.

So if I go with a smaller carb it can be done? Less fuel = less heat, makes sense.

Same here really. Now i've got a good few miles on my 225 Rapido Classic with an Ancillotti I am looking to upgrade to one of the new Superclubmans. Presently running a 26mm reamed Jetex but have just purchased a 30mm Phbh from Corrado (Just Lambretta on here), to go with it.
