Can anyone tell me how soon the kickstart plunger should engage with first gear when the kickstart is pressed down? I've fitted an li type endplate and ramp and am trying to adjust the ramp. The engine is not yet in the scoot, so wonder if it needs to be to set it up properly.
Thanks.
Kickstart adjustment.

What I do is this:-
With the kick start arm assembled and in the casing, I secure the kick start pedal to the splines. Slacken off the ramp bolts enough so that the ramp can be moved to where the kick start piston is flush with it's housing at the end facing first gear and tighten the ramp bolts. You may need to clamp the kick start arm in a vice to move the kick start arm for access to the bolts.
This method works for me unless anyone else has a simpler idea.
