Just purchased some engine mounts from Fleabay item no 300752052967

Can anyone let me know if they both should have rubber in the narrow end as only one has and we didn't want to fit until we were sure. Its just they look odd.

Have asked vendor, whose reply was "No there fine, The one with no holes as rubber" and I quote ??????

So have asked question on LCGB and someone has just bought a 3 hole pair with NO rubber in either rear (narrow) part of mount and someone else offered the following: "Thinking a bit more about this, could it be some attempt to beef up the kickstart side mount?"

So my other half is still refusing to fit them and I need the casing to the painters - so please any advice anyone?

When I got the Biriani Bullet pre restoration, it had the same type engine mounts (from India obviously). They were fecked anyway so had to change them to the two/three hole type.



I know that I and other guys back fill the narrow void with silicone to try to extend the life of the mounts (and it can't do any harm anyway) and possibly reduce vibration.
Maybe it was the Indians idea to beef them up for the potholed roads of Bangalore

I'd agree with you and if it's brand new, fit it to the kickstart side.

The Indian unit with the back side solid we're fitted on the GP machines but it was found to cause cracking of the Legshields either side of the horn casting screws at the top!
AF Rayspeed removed the inner rubber sleeve to stop this happening as too much vibration was being transmitted into the bodywork.
The units you have purchased have no holes! So not the best to use, the 2 or 3 hole units are the best & for powerfully motors use the double drive side mount as this reduces the amount of engine flex within the frame which helps improve the handling & cornering speeds! The next thing to do is use a towball hitch cover over your engine mount on the carb side to stop the fuel spillage softening the rubber in the mount which causes the bad handling! Also if you use the 2 or 3 hole units fit them correctly as this reduces the vibration transmitted into the frame body work.
