My TSI225 has never been the greatest bike to kickover. Usually takes a good 5 - 10 kicks! Recently this has got worse and she starts, runs for a bit then stops. Kick over again and same thing. Eventually ticks over fine. Once engine is hot there are no problems kicks over first time. Whats up? :?

Is it your choke jet? If this is wrong, it will make the scooter hard to start, but when the engine is hot, it isn't needed, so it starts OK.

Alternatively, it could be the heat range of your plug or even timing. Too much retard can make starting difficult.

Starting is helped by using an advance/retard system, such as Variotronic or Agusto, but it won't overcome issues with choke jet size or poor plug choice.

That's the problem with Lambrettas, Andy, they're just so inconsistent. ;)

Thanks Knowledge.

It is about time i changed the plug anyway i guess. I run a 34 flatslide delly, standard ts1 with a jl3 and use a ngk b8es plug. Mileage split 30% motorway, 70% non motorway. Is this the most appropraite plug or should i change?

With the choke jet, is it a case of just replacing the existing one for a new 50 as per AF website?

I'd get that looked at, mine did it once but it's been OK since. i think I must have forgotten to twist the throttle that day. :o
