Hi all,
Gonna be rebuilding my engine over the next week or so,its a mugello 200 barrel and piston with a 60mm crank, will i need to fit a 1mm or 2mm packing plate? or is it not as simple as that,do i need to start measuring port timings?

Thanks......Faf

Think I know where you're coming from. Your cranks stroke is made up from 30mm below centre/axis and 30mm above, i.e 60mm stroke, so piston will go 1mm further out than before, and 1mm further into the crankcase mouth.
so..the baic answer to our queston is a 1mm packer.

however, 1mm is small, and you can now lower your port timings, by perhaps keeping existing base and using thicker head gasket,
or add packer/gasket to base, and reduce head gasket to raise your timings.

check your squish of course whatever way you choose to go.

some may depend on your barrel spec. i.e some use 60mm to 'detune' a TS1 by adding more head gasket.
But for a lesser tune, mugello ?, then perhaps add a bit of base gasket for a hightened tune

Thanks for that, confirmed my thoughts! Is there any benefit to not fitting a packer and lowering port timings?
