Have suddenly developed a weird short though the headlight - no light, and getting electric shocks when I touch the wiring into the bulb holder. Tail light, brake light, horn and kill are all fine.
I want to bypass the switch and just run 'hard wired' lights until I have more time to investigate - assuming that the short relates to the switch. Will sacrifice the horn for the time being.
If I unplug everything from the bulb holder that comes from the switch, do I just run the brown wire from the loom into the blue or red socket and earth it? And earth the purple wire for the tail light? Obviously my green/power & kill wires remain as is, but want to make sure I'm doing the right thing with the brown, purple and earth from the loom.
The scoot is an LI S3 with the BGM12v electronic AC conversion with original bulb holder.
And no, I don't know anything about electrics!
Thanks.
Bypassing the horn / dimmer switch - help please!

The brown from the loom feeds into the ignition switch and a feed from the switch then goes to the dip switch so you will need to connect your brown with that wire, I'm not sure of the colour but you should be able to work it out using a bit of logic and the wiring diagram. If I understand you correctly, the way you suggested would only give you main OR dip, not both.
try orange from ignition switch to either side of head light, coaster wrote:The brown from the loom feeds into the ignition switch and a feed from the switch then goes to the dip switch so you will need to connect your brown with that wire, I'm not sure of the colour but you should be able to work it out using a bit of logic and the wiring diagram.
