My Mates brought a GS160 it was running when he brought it, got it home and now nothing, no spark.
I said id have a look at it, but im a lammy man and know fook all about Vespas.
So a few Qs before i dive in ?
Will it spark if the batterys is flat ?
Is there a wire ( similar to the green on a lammy) that if i disconnect will isolate the ignition switch ?
what colour is the low tension coil wire coming out of the stator and on to the HT coil?
If i disconect this wire off the coil should i be able to get a spark off it (like a lammy) this should tell me which side of this is the potential problem.
Wheres the best place for GS spares ?
Ta Russ

They`re a pain in the hole. He probably left the ignition in the wrong position and flattened the battery, it won`t start.
Mate had one and after perservering with the standard set-up for a while I`ve just fitted a ScootRS electronic for him, now it`s great.
There`s a reason why we all fit electronics to our Lammy`s and vintage Vespa`s are no different.

First thing is to charge the battery, if its a battery model with a key its going no where unless the battery is in tip top condition. You need the battery to get a spark. Its also well known that the original style Bakelite style coils can go as little as 300 miles, so best to replace it with a 6v PX one. The purple wire from the coil is the one that goes to the stator.

For asisatance and knowledge, Gran Sport are best- Danny there knows his stuff. But also Retrospective and Scootopia are supposed to be good. For spares, Allstyles are quite good or SIP as they also sell the qualuty remade parts by Pascoli which is by far the best you can get but are pricey.

The best place for advice is here: http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/vespa-sports/
