Hello wonder if anyone can advise on the type of casing we have and would it be ok to use for a rb20 kit . We think it could be a series 1 casing my mate bought with a bit of scooter number starts 125 li 543xxx. If not what would be a better casing for the build .

Has it got 6mm studs at the front for mounting the exhaust? The number matches with S1 frames. I'd use an Indian or Spanish casing as they're supposed to have more meat around the transfer area which is useful if you want to match the casing to the barrel for optimum tuning potential.
I'm having an RB sprint engine built and I'm using a Spanish casing for that but using an Indian chain side casing for GP clutch set up. It's recommended to convert the end plate to the earlier type with adjustable kick start ramp if you're using an Indian casing, just means getting the earlier end plate and drilling the 3 holes in the casing for the adjustable ramp. The casting is already there for the holes, just needs drilling and tapping.

The casing you have is ok. Just change m6 exhaust mount studs to m8. The standard engine mounts are ok as the motor has very little vibration & produces 22+ bhp@ rear wheel with 30mm flat slide & JL Franspeed exhaust run the Li 125 gearbox with 17-46 primary drive 5 plate clutch set up copes with the power. But fit a GP chain case cover if possible!

so if I read right , the gp casing would be better but the casing we have would be ok with a few modifications . Can the longer engine mounts be fitted to this casing and would the area around the exhaust studs need beefing up as yes it only has 6mm stud holes . Ian if you don't mind at some point when we finally start the project could ring you for some advice on the build . We now have a bit of food for thought and will have to maybe change a few plans .
