looking for a 14" rear wheel sproket

Anything related to Lambrettas... ask tech questions, post helpful info, or just read and learn.

whats the best back wheel to use I need a 14" if possible with sproket and crush drive too,
I dont want to convert an auto rear wheel as I am using a 600cc lump and it might rip it apart

and idears or pictures of converted rear wheels I know a few lammy peeps have slapped bike
engines in so looking for idears please

think the gilera dna 125 has 14" rims

my simple solution would be to run the gilera dna 125 front wheel (or similar), machine up a sprocket that fits the disc holes, or just buy one done, plenty of places that will machine a blank for you.

for braking you could either double decker the sprocket and disc and run the brake disc outside? or have the sprocket made of steel and run the sprocket as the rear disc, or dependant on room at the engine end, run a disc on the outside of the sprocket and brake it that end?


the pitbikes come with 14" rims but dont think I would trust 600cc bike engine with a cheapy spoked wheel, they however would be the simplest solution

have had a look on ebay now for a dna rear wheel I wonder if these will take the power of a 600 lump they look a bit thin on the spokes

have you mocked up the build or thought about how its going to look with 14" wheels?

I personally dont like the way that lammies look when fitted with 12" rims, 14's are gonna look huge

just had a quick work out of some numbers, standard tyres are sort of 90-90x10 ? so thats 416mm tall

120/90/14 is 571mm tall (6" taller) save a bit with 140/60/14 at 523mm tall, but even thats still over 4" taller than standard tyres

I built a rear wheel for a mates outfit. The idea was a crib of the EML design of the time. Used a car rim, fabbed up a hub to suit the cush drive/brake. Then cut DOM tubing "spokes" to join up the two in a simple jig. Fairly straight forward. Used lathe to true up hub after welding and vert milling m/c to layout jig on plate, but could be done without.
The internet may provide access to decent alloy section to make a much lighter one.

The Ruckus fraternity use small (not sure on size but std is 10" and they are larger than that) drag style solid billet centre with spun rim. These are often cut to produce any sort of "spoke" pattern.

I am using malaguti forks with a 12" front wheel and have had the forks
extended by just under 2" so they miss the frame so I thought a 14" would
level the bike i dont have any rear wheels only 10" vespa or the 16" or 18"
I think that came off the 600 I need to find somebody close to be who know
what they are doing...

I have striped the bike down to the bare frame now so already to go....

might see if I can stick the 16" rim in the rear of the frame as there will be no
engine in there could be the stronger and safer option with a 600 lump.

ok where do I start, do I weld the sub frame in first then make the rest to fit.

I want to start this ASAP

whats the cost of these 13" rims converted and what price are the swing arm running at and
do these bolt into the standard engine mount holes



also I have cut the 600 sub frame down and fitted it into the px frame will take pictures soon
just waiting for a new camera smash my other 1 :o(, I have booked the frame in at a welders
to have it welded in, can't wait

need to sort of rear swing arm now
